Hungary again threatens Ukraine with countermeasures due to suspension of oil transit
Ukraine is engaged in "political blackmail" and is trying to artificially raise fuel prices in neighboring countries to interfere in their elections. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reported this on Facebook.
He said that "there are no technical, engineering or physical reasons why oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline have not been resumed," and the situation is a purely political manipulation.
According to the diplomat, Kyiv is trying to play along with the opposition Tisza party, provoking a rise in gasoline prices.
"Ukrainians want us to go to the polls with a gasoline price of 1000 forints, thereby helping the Tisza party, but we are not stupid!" he wrote.
Péter Szijjártó emphasized that Hungary "will defend itself" and is already preparing a joint response with Slovakia.
"If the Ukrainians continue to interfere with us, we are ready to take further joint countermeasures," the minister concluded.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Hungary and Slovakia decided on February 18 to stop supplying diesel fuel to Ukraine due to the shutdown of the Druzhba pipeline.
On February 18, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó was the first to announce that his country has stopped supplying diesel fuel to Ukraine until the Druzhba pipeline resumes operation.
Hungary has also threatened to stop exporting gas and electricity to Ukraine due to the damage to Druzhba.
