Trump administration wants to bring top US oil companies back to Venezuela - Reuters

The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to meet with the heads of major US oil companies this week to discuss increasing oil production in Venezuela, Reuters reported on Tuesday, January 6, citing a source familiar with the situation.

According to the source, the Trump administration expects to increase the production and export of crude oil from Venezuela, which has the world's largest reserves. Achieving this goal will require years of work and billions of dollars of investment, analysts say.

"All of our oil companies are ready and willing to make major investments in Venezuela to rebuild their oil infrastructure, which was destroyed by the illegitimate Maduro regime," said White House spokesman Taylor Rogers.

The meetings are key for the Trump administration to bring major U.S. oil companies back to Venezuela after its government took control of U.S.-led energy operations nearly two decades ago.
