Participants of festival in Transcarpathia fall ill with intestinal infection due to water from Shypit waterfall
In Transcarpathia, 38 cases of acute intestinal infection have already been recorded among people who were resting near the Shypit waterfall.
The Zakarpattia Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has reported this.
It is reported that 28 patients lived in tents and participated in an informal youth event near the waterfall in the territory of the Pylypets territorial community. 10 patients were on an excursion near the waterfall.
Most patients had a moderate course of the disease. There were no severe forms or fatalities.
The patients used water from the Shypit waterfall for drinking and cooking. Doctors continue to monitor the patients, an epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
The Ministry of Health also reminded of safety rules when relaxing in nature:
- do not drink unboiled water from open sources;
- store products in proper conditions, especially in hot weather;
- follow the rules of personal hygiene;
- if symptoms of poisoning appear, consult a doctor.

Also, 25 people were hospitalized in the Vinnytsia Region after eating shawarma.
