Trump leaves G7 summit early over dislike of Macron and unwillingness to communicate with Zelenskyy - Financial Times

On Monday evening, Trump left the G7 summit in Canada, skipping the second day of the event, which included talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy because he was reluctant to talk to him and because he was irritated with French President Emmanuel Macron. The Financial Times reports this with reference to its own sources.

According to a statement from the White House, US President Donald Trump decided to leave the G7 summit in Kananaskis, Canada, early and return to Washington due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East. But people familiar with the discussions say that his decision to leave was partly due to irritation with French President Emmanuel Macron, who visited Greenland and opposed Trump's plans to take control of the island, as well as the US President's lack of interest in meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is reported that with this in mind, NATO has shortened the upcoming leaders' summit to one working session to avoid Trump's premature departure - the summit was supposed to take place over three days, but it will be limited to only a two-and-a-half-hour working session among 32 leaders.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Trump left the G7 summit early due to events in the Middle East.
