640,000-strong group of russian troops fighting against Ukrainian army — Syrskyi
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that as of today, the length of the front line is about 1,100 kilometers.
He said this during a speech at a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council in a military format.
"We are counting on achieving a just peace, but for now, active hostilities continue on a section of the front about 1,100 kilometers long. Despite diplomatic appeals, Russia does not give up on achieving its previous goals on the battlefield," Syrskyi said.
He added that the Ukrainian army is currently being opposed by a combined group of russians. Its strength is approximately 640,000 people.
Syrskyi told the participants of the meeting that the Ukrainian military continues to conduct effective defense and inflict significant losses on the occupiers.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the day before, the American publication The New York Times wrote, citing the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), that since the beginning of 2024, the russian army has captured less than one percent of the territory of Ukraine, losing 400,000 people.
Recall, in March, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that since the beginning of the year, russian troops have lost 100,000 soldiers killed and wounded.
