IAEA Director General says Zaporizhzhia NPP "professionally managed by russia"

The temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is "professionally controlled and managed" by (the aggressor country, - ed.) russia. This was stated by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi in an interview with Reuters.

Grossi noted that the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant could return to the grid within a few months after the ceasefire, but it would take more than a year to restart all six of its reactors. According to him, the security situation in Zaporizhzhia remains unstable at the moment, and armed russian troops are preventing access to some parts of the plant.

"From the point of view of security and the general situation at the plant, I must say that it is professionally controlled and managed (by russia). Some of the repair work was perhaps not as comprehensive as it could have been, but this is also the impact of the war," Grossi said.

The IAEA Director General stressed that in order to launch the station, it is necessary to confirm that there are no more active hostilities in the area.
