Worse than Germany's post-war reparations. Terms of US-Ukraine mineral deal become known

The Donald Trump administration has put forward to Ukraine the terms of a mineral deal in exchange for military aid, which are usually imposed on aggressor countries after defeat in war. These requirements are even tougher than those applied to Germany and Japan after World War II.

This is reported by the British publication The Telegraph, citing a draft agreement marked "Privileged and Confidential", dated February 7, 2025.

According to the document, the U.S. will receive:

There will be “a lien on such revenues” in favour of the U.S.

"This clause means ‘pay us first, and then feed your children’,”said a source close to the negotiations.

The document also stipulates that a special fund created to manage resources " shall have the exclusive right to establish the method, selection criteria, terms, and conditions" of all future licenses and projects.

"And so forth, in this vein," writes The Telegraph.

Recall that, according to the Financial Times, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the U.S. offer to transfer to them about 50% of the rights to Ukrainian rare earth minerals, since the agreement did not have clear security guarantees from the U.S.
