Foreign Ministry confirms that Trump's special envoy postponed his visit to Ukraine
The future special envoy of the newly elected US President Donald Trump on Ukraine and russia, Keith Kellogg, has postponed his planned visit to Kyiv. Currently, Ukraine and the United States are working on determining the time of the upcoming meeting.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha at a briefing, Suspilne reported on Tuesday, January 7.
Sybiha noted that Kellogg has indeed postponed his visit to Kyiv, as well as to other European capitals, until Trump's inauguration, scheduled for January 20. According to him, the parties are currently working on determining the time of the meeting.
"For us, the meeting and visit of General Kellogg are extremely important. I am sure that this meeting will take place in due time. We are in contact to clearly determine the time frame for its holding and filling it with maximum content," the Foreign Minister said.
Kyiv hopes to be the first to meet with representatives of the new US administration, Sybiha noted.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on January 7, Reuters reported that Kellogg had postponed a planned study tour to Kyiv and other European capitals.
On December 18, Kellogg said that the Ukrainian and russian sides were ready to hold talks.
As we will recall, at the end of November last year, it became known that Trump had decided on the candidate for the US special envoy for Ukraine and russia.
