Sybiha calls on G20 to invite Ukraine to summit in Brazil in November

Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha called on the G20 countries to invite Ukraine to the summit in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) in November. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sybiha said this on September 25 at the UN headquarters while participating in the G20 ministerial meeting, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"Andrii Sybiha called for Ukraine to be invited to the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro on the important symbolic day of November 19, when it is 1,000 days since the start of the bloodiest war in Europe since the Second World War - russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine," the message reads.

Sybiha noted that the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the G20 summit will bring peace closer and will help determine the date and place of the second Peace Summit.

"We believe that it would be very appropriate if the topic of russian aggression against Ukraine was presented at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, and the President of Ukraine could participate in it. This will bring peace closer and help determine the date and place of the second Peace Summit. We believe that ignoring this symbolic date on the part of the G20 will demonstrate weakness and unwillingness to solve global problems," the minister said.

The Foreign Minister also called on the G20 to take a firm stand against russia's dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric regarding nuclear weapons. He emphasized that it is unacceptable when russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a nuclear state, threatens all with weapons of mass destruction.

Sybiha also called on partners to join the implementation of President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula and emphasized that it is the only realistic path to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the UN Charter.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Ukraine plans to hold the Second Peace Summit in November, and russia will be invited to it.

On September 26, Zelenskyy intends to present the plan for Ukraine's victory to US President Joseph Biden.
