Ukraine is not interested in "taking" territory in Kursk Oblast of russia - Foreign Ministry
Ukraine is not interested in "taking" the territory in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation, but wants to protect the lives of its people, besides, the operation does not allow the enemy to transfer additional units to the Donetsk Region and complicates their logistics.
This was stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
"Unlike the russian federation, Ukraine does not need someone else's. Ukraine is not interested in taking territory in the Kursk Oblast, we want to protect the lives of our people," Tykhyi said.
He noted that from the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation, more than 2,000 enemy strikes, 255 guided air bombs and more than 100 missiles were used over the Sumy Region of Ukraine since the beginning of summer.
"Unfortunately, Ukraine does not have enough opportunities to deliver long-range strikes with the weapons it has to protect itself from this terror. There are no such solutions that we insist on. Therefore, it is necessary to liberate these border areas from russian military contingents, which inflict blows on Ukraine, specifically with the help of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
The spokesman noted that Ukraine is achieving "relevant goals" in the Kursk Oblast and will continue to do so, as it is necessary for the security and defense of the country.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Volodymyr Zelenskyy held another meeting of the Staff, during which it was confirmed for the first time that the operation in the Kursk Oblast is being carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was also noted that the Ukrainian army currently controls about 1,000 square kilometers of territory.
In his evening address, Zelenskyy explained that the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast is a security issue for Ukraine - the liberation of the border area, which is constantly under fire, from the enemy. At the same time, according to him, Kursk is the "catastrophe of the war" of the russian dictator vladimir putin.
Meanwhile, two American senators - Republican Lindsey Graham and Democrat Richard Blumenthal - supported the military operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation.
