Ukrenergo will receive a grant of EUR 100 million from EU for restoration and protection of substations
The Ukrenergo national energy company will receive a grant from the European Union in the amount of EUR 100 million for the restoration and protection of substations.
This follows from a statement by the company, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The European Commission authorized KfW to direct to Ukrenergo the funds of the special budget program of the EU Ukraine Investment Facility and to ensure the financing and implementation of a number of priority energy projects, such as the modernization of high-voltage substations in the western regions of Ukraine and the construction of interstate interconnectors that connect Ukraine with the energy system of the continental of Europe; repair and restoration of equipment at high-voltage substations destroyed or damaged by russian shelling, as well as the purchase and delivery of new equipment; measures to strengthen the physical protection of Ukrenergo substations," the message states.
According to the report, since the beginning of the war, Ukrenergo has attracted EUR 1.5 billion in international aid.
In particular, EUR 324 million was raised with the support of KfW.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrenergo will receive a grant of EUR 15 million from the Credit Institution for Reconstruction (KfW, Germany) for the restoration of substations.
