Leaders Of Normandy Quartet To Hold Telephone Talks On December 30

The press service of the President of Ukraine announced this in a statement.

The leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany will hold telephone talks on December 30.

The press service of the President of Ukraine announced this in a statement.

President Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, during which they discussed the state of implementation of the Minsk ceasefire agreement and stressed the need for full implementation of the agreement.

"President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko coordinated his position with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on the eve of a telephone conversation in the 'Normandy format,' which is scheduled for December 30," the statement said.

Poroshenko drew attention to the fact that pro-Russian militants are increasingly violating the ceasefire and engaging in open provocation, particularly by shelling the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's special monitoring mission to Ukraine.

The president also welcomed the European Union's decision to extend its sanctions against Russia until full implementation of the Minsk agreement.

Merkel stressed the policy regarding non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea remained unchanged.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, former president (1994-2005) Leonid Kuchma, who is Ukraine's representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on resolution of the conflict in Donbas, expects the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France, and Germany to reach agreement on further implementation of the Minsk ceasefire agreement before the end of 2015.
