USA To Preserve Existing Sanctions On Russia Until Full Implementation Of Minsk Agreements

During a telephone conversation with United States Vice President Joseph Biden.

The United States intends to preserve the existing sanctions on Russia until the Minsk agreements are implemented in full, the press office of the President of Ukraine said.

During a telephone conversation with United States Vice President Joseph Biden, President Petro Poroshenko told him about the situation in the Donbas and stressed the need for Russia and pro-Russian militants to fully implement the Minsk agreements, particularly the agreements' provisions on release of all hostages, withdrawal of occupation troops, and granting the OSCE access to the entire territory of the occupied Donbas and the border.

"The vice president reiterated the readiness of the United States to continue working on full implementation of the Minsk agreements and restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity. The two sides confirmed their common position that it is necessary to preserve the existing international sanctions until these goals are achieved," the statement said.

Poroshenko thanked the United States for its consistent political support for Ukraine, its humanitarian, financial, and military assistance, and its help in implementing reforms, particularly in the area of combating corruption.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the United States Department of Defense has ruled out decreased attention to the conflict in Ukraine as a result of Russia's actions in Syria.
