Emergencies Service Extinguishes Fire Areas At Kyiv Region Petroleum Depot

Chechiotkin notes that the situation in the depot territory is under control.

The State Emergency Situations Service has extinguished fire areas at the petroleum storage depot in the village of Kriachky, Vasylkiv District, Kyiv Region, Service chairman Mykola Chechiotkin has told the press ahead of a Cabinet of Ministers session.

"Today, have finished the liquidation of fire areas," he said.

In his words, at the moment they keep chilling the charred tank cisterns.

Chechiotkin notes that the situation in the depot territory is under control.

What concerns the fire areas in Irpin and Brovary (in Kyiv Region too), the Emergencies Service chief says this is peat-bogs burning.

Despite the process of extinguishing peat-bog conflagration is quite long, he added, the situation is under full control of the agency.

Although, Chechiotkin remarks that outstanding are still the issues of fuel pumping out and removal, and the hazard remains until they have been resolved.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, as of 09:30 on June 12, the Emergencies Service managed to put out fire on one out of the three burning fuel containers at the petroleum depot in Kriachky.

As of June 9, the Emergencies Service contained a forestland blaze caused by a blast at the petroleum depot in Kriachky.
