Rada Approves Bringing Deputy Kliuev To Responsibility

According to Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin, Kliuev is likely to be imprisoned for over 10 years.

The Verkhovna Rada has gave its consent for bringing Verkhovna Rada independent deputy Serhii Kliuev to responsibility.

A total of 287 deputies backed respective decision, when 226 votes would be enough to pass the decision.

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) submitted respective appeal for consideration of the Verkhovna Rada on May 12.

According to Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin, Kliuev is likely to be imprisoned for over 10 years.

After the submission of the appeal, Shokin said Kliuev is suspected of crimes envisioned by Section 4, Article 190 (swindling on an especially large scale or by an organized group); Section 5, Article 191 (embezzlement of property or taking possession of property in an illegal way on an especially large scale); and Section 2, Article 364 (abuse of office by an official of a legal entity, which entailed grave consequences) of the Penal Code of Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Kliuev does not intend to avoid the investigation and abandon Ukraine.

He has expressed confidence that the PGO does not have evidence against him.
