Russia Agrees For Deploying Peacekeeping Contingent In Donbas

Poroshenko calls to ensure access to convoys with Ukrainian and international humanitarian aid for inhabitants of the militant-held areas of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.

Russia agrees for deploying peacekeeping contingent in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, reads a statement made by the press service for the President of Ukraine.

"In the context of discussion of ways of peaceful settlement President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin agreed with the possibility of deploying peacekeeping contingent in Donbas," it said.

President Petro Poroshenko in the course of a telephone conference with Putin, President Francois Hollande of France and German Chancellor Angela Merkel pointed to inadmissibility of movements of Russia's so-called "humanitarian convoys" across the border stretches not controlled by Ukraine.

The President also once more called on Putin to free Ukrainian military officer and Member of Parliament Nadiya Savchenko (Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Association faction), arrested in Russia.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukraine, Germany, France and Russia stand for demilitarisation of Shyrokyne, Donetsk Region and setting up an Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) post there.
