PGO Closes Case Involving Svoboda MPs’ Assault On National TV Company’s Former Acting Director Panteleimonov

The case was closed because "acts of hooliganism were not proven" during the investigation.

The Prosecutor-General’s Office has closed the criminal case it launched in connection with an assault on Oleksandr Panteleimonov, a former acting general director of the National Television Company, by parliamentary deputies from the Svoboda faction. A source in the National Television Company disclosed this to Ukrainian News.

According to the source, the case was closed at the beginning of last week (August 11-18).

The case was closed because "acts of hooliganism were not proven" during the investigation.

The source also said that the beating of Panteleimonov was not investigated because he did not file a complaint.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, members of the Svoboda party’s parliamentary faction, particularly Ihor Miroshnychenko and Bohdan Beniuk, forced Panteleimonov to resign on March 18 by inflicting minor bodily injuries on him and threatening him.

The PGO opened criminal proceedings in connection with the assault.

The National Television Company called for an end the investigation into the attack on Panteleimonov.
