Defense Ministry Eyeing Return Of Soldiers To Military Unit In Balakleya, Kharkiv Region

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine is eyeing return of soldiers to the military units in Balakleya, Kharkiv region, after mine clearing operation is accomplished.

Maksym Komissarov, head of the department for ecological security of the Defense Ministry, announced this to Ukrainian News Agency.

"This option is being considered," he said.

He says it will take two months to clear the territory of the military base from unexploded ordnance.

He says there is no ecological danger for residents of Balakleya.

A fire broke out at an ammunition depot in Balakleya at around 3 a.m. on March 23, resulting in detonation of ammunition. The fire was extinguished on March 26.
